The Abbey-church of Romainmôtier

Located in Romainmôtier, within 15 minutes of the hotel, a famous Clunian abbey-church welcomes the visitors. Built by Cluny’s monks between 990 and 1028 A.D., this European gem is the oldest and biggest Roman church in Switzerland. Nearby lies La Maison du Prieur (« Prayer’s House »), a National Monument. In this miraculously-preserved edifice was celebrated the wedding of Marguerite, daughter of the Austrian Emperor Maximilian I, with Philibert II, Duke of Savoy. In Romainmôtier, visitors can also discover delightful paths, such as the famous sentier des Fontaines (« Fountains path »), which gives a direct acces to several basins in the dale of the Nozon area.
