The Roman Mosaics of Orbe

In the outskirts, within 5 minutes of the hotel, our guests can admire the famous Roman Mosaics. Erected on a site called « Boscéaz », those historical masterpieces have inspired the name of « Orbe ». Despite their big size, they are remarkably well-preserved, which is why they are so famous across Europe. Dating from the Ist and IIIrd Centuries A.D., the Mosaics lie in four houses, which surround the remains of a walled Gallo-Roman town. In Orbe also lie two relics of the great medieval Castle : the circular dungeon and the square tower. Visitors can discover the city’s origins from the Neolithic Era until today our Days, thanks to the Museum of local history, where period pieces are exhibited. Finally, hiking lovers will be delighted by the natural beauty of the paths of the Gorges of Orbe.
